LIGHT ON TREES
This is a work in progress inspired by a `golden tree´, visible from the kitchen window in winter. Its golden colour is due to a type of lichen, which covers all the branches. It was the interaction of colours produced by this interesting oblique light of dawn and sunset what captivated me. This work has to do with what I observe, how I observe it, and what this makes me feel, all together.
The world of phenomena and appearance, which is mainly my subject, is in constant change, but there is something behind it in the background, something that exists on its own, the essence of everything, its truth. When observing I seek for this truth to see what is behind the obvious.
The manipulation of the medium allows me to play with the relationship between background and foreground, expanding their boundaries by applying several layers of oil paint, creating a sense of no boundaries at all.
